The TOS in Finland: Supporting educational projects

The TOS in Finland has been energetically raising awareness about three spiritually oriented educational projects it has chosen to support: a children’s home in southern Finland, the Olcott Memorial School and the Social Welfare Centre at Adyar, Chennai, India.

Members have conducted two main fund raising events this past year: a spring festival concert with the theme of the love of nature and a Christmas bazaar with beautiful sale items hand made by the members, along with organic food.

Brownies’ for the Christmas tree: some of the handicraft prepared by the members for their festive season sale. The TOS’s Coordinator in Finland, Mrs Leena Jussila, selling flowers at the spring festival concert.

With the TOS’s help last year, the new Krishnamurti School in South Chennai was able to install an eco-friendly sanitary system.

The principal help in 2010 was to buy clothes for 80 children at the Social Welfare Centre at Adyar, a sari for each teacher and volunteer worker at the Centre and a number of sacks of rice weighing 25 kilograms each.

In 2010, the TOS in Finland was able to help these causes to the tune of 3180 euros (approximately US$4500).  This is an impressive result for a relatively small group.  We congratulate them for their dynamic work and their gentle presence at the Social Welfare Centre.

The children line up to meet the Finnish visitors. A little girl is offered her gift by Marja Artamaa, the TS General Secretary and TOS Correspondent.
Here we see one of the members, Markku, presenting
